Important Dates

Feb. 10, 2012:  State online registration due by 11:59 p.m. in order to qualify for regular price of $10 per student.  Online registrations submitted after this point incur the late registration fee of $12 per student.

Feb. 16, 2012:  State payment check must be postmarked

Feb. 25, 2012:  Texas State German Contest, University of Texas at Austin

Mar. 2, 2012:  Houstonfest Scholarship applications due

Mar. 9, 2012:  Gail Cope Scholarship applications due

Jan. 14, 2013:  Houstonfest e-mail registration due by 11:59 p.m. in order to qualify for regular price of $10 per student

Jan. 21, 2013:  Last day to submit late registration ($12 per student) and last day to postmark payment check

Jan. 29, 2013:  Proof sheet of entrants sent to teachers for final verification and changes

Jan. 31, 2013, 8:00 p.m.:  Deadline to submit changes (adds, drops, substitutions).  After this point, no more additions or substitutions will be allowed in individual events.  Substitution of students in group events may continue in emergency situations.

• Sugar Land is a suburb on the southwest side of Houston, a little over 20 miles from downtown Houston.
• Wherever you are coming from, you will almost certainly end up on U.S. Hwy. 59, which runs through Sugar Land (unless you are coming on Hwy. 6, in which case see the last bullet point below).
• If you are southbound on 59, exit First Colony/Sweetwater and turn left on Sweetwater.
• If you are northbound on 59, exit First Colony/Sweetwater and turn right on Sweetwater.
• Once on Sweetwater, continue through the traffic lights at Town Center, Lexington, and Greystone.  Turn right at the next light, Elkins.
• At that point, you will see the school.  Take the first right into the parking lot.  Buses may park on the lot all day.  Look for signs pointing to the entrance (under the covered walkway that runs along the side of the parking lot).
• If you are coming to Sugar Land on Hwy. 6, southbound drivers turn right on Lexington (soon after crossing under Hwy. 59); northbound drivers turn left on Lexington (Williams Trace and Grants Lake are the two lights preceding Lexington).  Continue on Lexington through the traffic light at Austin Parkway, and turn left on Sweetwater at the next light, then right on Elkins.  See above for parking information.
